Taking a balanced approach to training.

At Rocky Mountain Hounds, I believe the path to real change isn’t just in a few dedicated training sessions a day—it’s in how you live with your dog all the time.

Through our training programs, I work with both you and your dog to build the skills and structure needed to communicate expectations and set healthy boundaries. The goal is clarity and understanding for your dog, and a calm, balanced mindset that carries over into everyday life.

I take a whole-dog approach to training.

That means I’m not just focused on fixing one behaviour or teaching a few commands—I’m looking at the full picture.

That includes your dog’s mindset, daily routines, environment, and the relationship you share. Dogs need more than obedience—they need structure, leadership, and consistency to feel secure and thrive. A big part of my work is helping dogs understand what’s expected of them, and supporting you—their owners—in following through with calm, confident leadership.

Everything we do is intentional and tied to the goals we set together, so the training stays focused on what matters most to you and your dog.

Training isn’t just about getting your dog to listen to you.

It’s about creating a calm, respectful relationship built on trust and understanding. When dogs know what’s expected of them—and when you follow through consistently—they become more confident, grounded, and easier to live with.

To support that process, I use a combination of tools and techniques, including:

  • E-collars, prong collars, and slip leads, crates

  • Food, play, affection, and other forms of positive reinforcement

Each tool has a clear purpose and, when used fairly and consistently, helps shape reliable behaviour, encourage better decision-making, and deepen the connection between you and your dog.

The goal isn’t just short-term success—it’s real change that sticks. Habits, mindset, and communication that transfer into everyday life, so you and your dog are truly set up for long-term success.
